There was just enough time before leaving town last week for an early dash to the Japanese Garden and then to Tom McCall Waterfront Park to check out this year’s cherry blossoms. At just shy of 500 feet altitude and mostly in the shade, the white cherry trees at the Japanese Garden were blossoming at least a week behind the Waterfront Park trees; but the old Weeping Cherry was in full display. At the waterfront, crews were still cleaning up after a very crowded weekend, but there were already several fancy dress photo shoots at 10am on a Monday morning.
