I visit Fernhill Wetlands often, about 30 miles west of us in Forest Grove. I have a lot of gratitude for the efforts of engineers and civic leaders who saw fit in 2014 to transform sewage lagoons into water treatment wetlands, cleaning up to 5 million gallons of water per day before it flows into the Tualatin River, saving taxpayers money, and creating bird and wildlife habitats and a trail for human visitors. Nancy and I recently returned to Fernhill in January 2023. Nancy wrote about the trip on her blog. I have an earlier photoblog of a previous winter visit back in December of 2021, and one from a very different warm summer day in August 2022.
